The Ballad of Blind Ferguson

from From the depths of HAL by Hal Guitarist

/

about

Dedicated to a little-known band known as Blind Ferguson.

lyrics

There once was a man
Or rather, four men
They were in a band
One day and then

They sang out their songs
Through the barren land
To us they belonged
In music halls so grand

But nobody noticed them at all in the day
It just seems that they had to fade away

When we went to the dives
They sang out the blues
Why isn’t it a crime
That they didn’t break through?

I remember the place
Where we first met
Now that place is no more
To this I regret

And nobody noticed them at all in the day
It just seems that they had to fade away

Go find the hipsters
Wherever they be
Don’t make me sigh
Whenever I see

A band of posers
Pretending to play
And no-good composers
Scaring music away

And nobody noticed them at all in the day
It just seems they had to fade away

I'm down to Ithaca town
Don't know where they'll go
I'm unsure what I've found
Perhaps I'll never know

I wish I could see them
At a over sold show
But Blind Ferguson
That band had to go

Cause nobody noticed them at all in the day
It just seems they had to fade away

And nobody noticed them at all in the day
It just seems they had to fade away
